Volunteering
A2A offer a range of volunteering opportunities. If you are physically fit, enjoy the company of different people and have an interest in the visual arts then this could be for you.
Volunteering takes place between Monday to Friday, during the day.
Training
All volunteers are given full induction training before they start. This will include issues on equality and disability and a practical session on handling wheelchairs. A2A also offer on going training
Volunteer Gallery Assistants
Our volunteer gallery assistants accompany an A2A member during a 3 hour visit to a gallery or museum.
You might accompany someone who is lacking confidence or with memory issues, you will need to be able to handle a wheelchair or lend a supportive arm. You are not expected to lift or help with personal care but handling a wheelchair can be tiring so you need to be fit.
Minibus Drivers
Volunteer minibus drivers are responsible for driving an accessible minibus, collecting members from their home.
You will need to have a clean driving license and be able to commit at least 6 months in the role.
Minibus Escorts
Minibus Escorts work with the drivers to ensure members have a safe journey to the gallery.
You would play an important role in pairing volunteers with the members on arrival at the gallery, collecting fares and organising tickets.
Office based volunteering:
We welcome volunteers with office skills who can help with sending out newsletters, photocopying or inputting onto our database. You can also get involved in fundraising.
Fundraising volunteers
There are many easy and exciting ways you can help raise funds for A2A including joining our Tate to Tate sponsored walk on 6th September. Details are on our Supporting A2A page.
