'Meet you there' service
If you are able to get to the gallery but need some help or support to get around, then our volunteer gallery assistants will arrange to 'meet you there', give you a helping hand and share the visit with you.
A2A can give you advice on how to get to a gallery yourself.
You can visit any gallery and as often as you want, some members prefer to visit the gallery during our 'door to door' service visit and we can send you details about where and when they are at the gallery.
'Door to door' service
The A2A 'door to door' service operates in 8 London boroughs, specifically for those unable to use alternative transport.
Our wheelchair accessible minibus will collect you from your home. Our volunteer gallery assistants will meet the minibus at the gallery and will pair up with you during your visit if you need some help. We will arrange to borrow a wheelchair at the gallery if you need one.
A2A volunteer gallery assistants
All our volunteers are recruited, trained and supported by Access to Art.
All can handle a wheelchair and are trained on issues relating to disability and equality. Some volunteers can assist with guiding and audio describing for those with a visual impairment. They are not, however, able to lift, help with transferring or help with personal care, but you are able to bring your own carer.
Our volunteers wear distinctive orange ID badges.
